The School Journal Club

The School Journal Club, run by professional journalist Lorenzo Perrelli, provides an opportunity for children to report on events taking place at school.

How it works

Pupils attending this after-school club work together to create a school newsletter which is sent out to all parents, providing them with an entertaining source of information about the children’s activities, from their own point of view. Each issue also includes fun quizzes and games created by the children, interviews and interesting columns such as “Book of the month”.

Children are invited to write in English or Italian based on their preference, while encouraged to challenge themselves to use both languages.

Our very own podcast

The club is a great way for young writers to develop their skills and share their perspectives on school life.

In addition to the school newsletter, our little journalists also work on a podcast which introduces each issue and gives a sneak preview of the topics they are hoping to cover in future issues.

You will find below all the school newsletters and podcasts.

We hope you enjoy it!

Our teacher Lorenzo Perrelli

Lorenzo Perrelli, born in 1985, spent his early years in Rome before moving to New York at age 10, where he attended the Italian School in New York. After returning to Rome, he pursued a degree in Political Science, then continued his studies in London, earning a Master’s in Journalism (specializing in radio and television) in 2011.

Following his education, Lorenzo began working with media outlets and agencies, creating videos, documentaries, features, and interviews. His notable works include a 15-minute documentary on the Armenian Genocide, which aired on Sky News, and collaborations with Corriere della Sera and Repubblica on short documentaries, some of them in Lebanon and Syria.

Recently, Lorenzo founded Rewarding Experiences, a media production and events company. He has also served as a guest lecturer at universities in London and Washington, sharing insights on the future of media and effective freelance journalism techniques.
Beyond journalism, he now mentors young adults across colleges in London, guiding them toward their professional goals.
