Job title: Italian-speaking Teaching Assistant for Primary/Nursery
Salary: £25.000
Contract type: Full-time (8am-5pm/9am-6pm)
Contract term: Permanent (subject to successful probationary period)
Start date: March 2025

Italian-Speaking Teaching Assistant (Full-Time)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced full-time Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work five days a week, supporting the Class Teacher in fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support for children as required, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Promote the learning and personal development of pupils, with a particular focus on EAL (English as an Additional Language) support, as we are a bilingual school.
- Lead and manage the breakfast club from 8:00 to 8:30 AM.
- Organize and deliver PE sessions.
- Supervise and engage with students during playtime duties.
- Read, understand, and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures, including government documentation (e.g., KCSIE, WT).
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff, in compliance with GDPR.
- Uphold the school’s high standards during and outside of work hours.
- Reflect school policies in daily practice and liaise with external agencies as appropriate (e.g., Educational Psychologist).
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children by following school policies and procedures.
- Promote British Values, equality, and fairness, treating everyone with dignity.
- Comply with the school’s Health and Safety policy and ensure the safety of yourself and others.
Supporting the Class Teacher and SENCO:
Under the supervision of the Class Teacher and SENCO, you will:
- Develop a supportive, fun, and caring relationship with pupils, providing encouragement and praise to help them achieve learning objectives.
- Assist in planning and preparing materials and resources to support a differentiated curriculum.
- Provide classroom and behavioural support, motivating and encouraging pupils in learning tasks.
- Collaborate proactively with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and other professionals.
- Liaise with parents/carers through communication channels such as emails and home-to-school diaries, providing updates on progress and ensuring they feel supported.
- Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to promote the welfare of all children.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children is essential, particularly in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Familiarity or experience with the teaching of phonics is highly desirable.
- An excellent command of English is essential.
- An open mindset and the ability to absorb and implement new skills and learning quickly.
- Flexibility, resilience, and enthusiasm for embracing challenges and change in a dynamic school environment.
- UK resident (all candidates will be asked to provide evidence to support their right to work in the UK)
